During the second half of 2007, Breyer UK linked up with The Pony Club to run a unique competition to help celebrate their 80th anniversary in 2009. Breyer offered to create a Traditional Series model of a Pony Club 'hero' horse or pony.
The competition invited Pony Club members to write a short essay describing how their 'hero' horse or pony has helped them to develop The Pony Club's goals in riding and horse care - responsibility, moral judgment, leadership skills and self-confidence.
Choosing a winner from the many high quality, and often heart-warming essays, was a hugely difficult task, but Breyer has announced the winner of the competition as 11 year old Oliver Jones from Denbigh in Wales, a Member of the Flint and Denbigh Branch of the Pony Club.
Breyer were impressed and touched by Oliver's essay about his 21 year old blue roan Connemara pony called Pippin and decided that Pippin was worthy of the very special honour of being immortalised as a Breyer model for thousands to enjoy!
In his essay, Oliver describes how Pippin has helped him and many other children learn to ride and to grow in confidence, and talks about the wonderful partnership that he and Pippin enjoy.
The model of Pippin will be available to pre-order from our website in January 2009. Breyer will be donating a percentage of all sales made to The Pony Club.
